you all know this statue commemorating the 12,000 people who died in 1900.
this was taken this morning by MSNBC around 930 a.m as the first waves started coming in.
hope everybody in Houston-Galveston will be safe as Ike roars through… Galveston certainly will be a changed place after tomorrow.., many of the things we know there will be gone
Side note: it’s pretty certain that all of the extremely endangered Attwaters Prairie Chickens on the Texas City 2,000 acre reserve owned by the Nature Conservancy will die– the storm surge alone will drown them.
that will leave only the handful that are further inland out by Eagle Lake and Goliad.

GHETTO PLAINSMAN is a "tough, beautifully written and deeply spiritual story of redemption and healing through America's underbelly and soul, from a rural childhood to the inner city streets to the even more violent outback of the American West. With comparisons to such classics as DOWN THESE MEAN STREETS and MANCHILD IN THE PROMISED LAND, GHETTO PLAINSMAN is not only a new literary classic, but has survival implications for everyone and our endangered Earth."
